CharlotteVibe Kicks Off "Enjoy the Vibe, Keep Friends Alive"

This is the first year that CharlotteVibe.com will be kicking off its Enjoy The Vibe, Keep Friends Alive campaign. The campaign is to serve as a reminder to everyone celebrating in Charlotte during this tournament weekend to not drink and drive. Recognizing that this event continues to grow each year and that Charlotte would continue to be a host city, we felt that it was important to add another component of safety.

What kind of accomplishments do you hope to achieve by hosting the “Enjoy the Vibe, Keep Friends Alive” campaign?
We have setup a web page which provides people the ability to take a pledge of responsibility during this year’s tournament. We hope that this pledge will cause more people to plan getting home safe just as soon as they are done planning their parties to attend. Our goal is to secure 5,000 pledges this year.

Is there a specific group of people you would like to reach out to with your efforts?
The specific group would include all those who plan in taking part in events to celebrate the CIAA tournament in Charlotte this year.

Were there any particular drunk-driving instances in Charlotte that contributed to your decision to put this campaign under way?
The fact that there hasn’t been an instance is the very reason that we are kicking off this campaign. We want to encourage the number of accidents to remain low.

When will this campaign be taking place? Do you plan on doing something like this annual or during other parts of the year?
This campaign is in effect now through March 6. Currently we do not have plans for other parts of the year. We’re actually already focusing on how to improve on this campaign for next year. There’s simply not a bigger event of this kind in the city and we want to keep our focus on this year.

Are there any specific vendors or events that are in partnership with this cause?
There are no specific vendors or events, our goal is to get as many involved as possible to represent one voice in Charlotte
