VH1 is teaming up with the uber popular and successful celebrity stylist, June Ambrose for Styled by June. Known as much more than simply a stylist, June has been styling and designing wardrobe for some of the biggest names in pop culture for over two decades. Throughout June’s career celebrities such as The Dave Matthews Band, Sean Combs, Alicia Keys, Kelly Ripa, Kim Cattrall, Jay Z, Mary J Blige and countless others have all sought June’s expert advice. Styled by June is a half-hour docu-series, is scheduled to premiere in February 2012.
June and her team of tireless assistants will take on a mix of up-and-coming and established celebrity clients – some actors, some musicians — who would like to re-imagine their looks and brands. Each episode will chronicle an image makeover and overall rebranding, culminating in a visually stunning event designed to focus on the celebrity’s new look.
One of the reasons I’m excited to watch the show is to see how June juggles her family life, CEO of her celebrity styling house Mode Squad and her burgeoning empire. I had the honor of meeting June at the Tracy Reese show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in September, where I noticed that she brings her daughter, Summer with her to the fashion shows.
Adding to June’s to-do list is a record label, books and a plethora of assignments ranging from celebrity clients, fashion shows and photo shoots to emergency style interventions for friends she can never turn down.
The show’s original working title, The June Ambrose Project, was ditched for the current title Styled by June. The comparisons to her show and Rachel Zoe’s show has already begun. However, the clientle should be a bit different (Rachel clients most Oscar winners, June’s clients most musicians) and we get to see how an in-demand stylist has managed to juggle motherhood, work and marriage.

A life-long fat girl, Sommer Johnson decided to strap on some fancy tennis shoes, wrestle into a sports bra that would likely be one size too small (they always are--that's what you get with big boobs), and go on a 38 week journey to run the Peachtree Road Race. In the midst of trying to find her healthier self, she found that her struggle was not all that rare. Between the full-figured audience of her online publication, Gemini Magazine, and friends who were rowing up the fat river with no paddle, Sommer decided to share her journey to help women like her get past their fears (and get moving--literally). A runner newbie, Insanity graduate, Turbofire enthusiast, and foodie experimenter, Sommer Johnson is a 32 year old mother of 2 and wife of 1 who lives in Atlanta, GA.
