The Charlotte Bobcats celebrated their home opener in style as they faced the Milwaukee Bucks to a just about sold out crowd on Monday December 26. Fans eagerly anticipated the Bobcats home opener after the NBA’s lockout left fans without basketball for months – but the Bobcats organization wanted to more than make-up for the time lost as fans entering Time Warner Cable arena were given a complimentary Bobcats t-shirt (I’m not a t-shirt girl, but this was one I might even wear). The Ladycats also made their season debut sporting their 2011 NBA Dance Team Championship rings.
The Bobcats had a bit of a slow first half as they were down by as much as 14 points through the 3rd quarter, but eventually, the guys got their groove back gaining about a 10 point lead in the fourth. Fans stood to their feet toward the end of the game as the Bucks began to fight their way back into the game, even hitting the final shot of the game. Still their last second 3 pointer was no match for the Bobcast, winning by a point.
Though D.J. Augustin should have been the star of the evening with a team high of 19 points, the crowd went crazy once Carolina Panthers’ Quarterback Cam Newton entered the arena. New York Yankees Derek Jeter was also a surprise to fans as he attend the game as a guest of Micheal Jordan, also in attendance. John Beason, Charles Godfrey and Thomas Davis of the Carolina Panthers were also in attendance.
The Bobcats next game is on Wednesday December 28 against the Miami Heat. For more information visit www.BobcatsBasketball.com

A life-long fat girl, Sommer Johnson decided to strap on some fancy tennis shoes, wrestle into a sports bra that would likely be one size too small (they always are--that's what you get with big boobs), and go on a 38 week journey to run the Peachtree Road Race. In the midst of trying to find her healthier self, she found that her struggle was not all that rare. Between the full-figured audience of her online publication, Gemini Magazine, and friends who were rowing up the fat river with no paddle, Sommer decided to share her journey to help women like her get past their fears (and get moving--literally). A runner newbie, Insanity graduate, Turbofire enthusiast, and foodie experimenter, Sommer Johnson is a 32 year old mother of 2 and wife of 1 who lives in Atlanta, GA.
