The dawning of each new year brings forth many things.  The peaceful hush of January falls silent insulating the still glowing embers of  joyous memories made with family and friends, the quiet contentment and sense of accomplishment smooths your brow into a restful countenance as the last boxes of another successful holiday soiree are packed back into the attic, resolutions are documented that more often than not serve as full on counter attacks to fitting back into pre-holiday pants, and, last but not least, the introduction of the new Pantone color of the year takes the design industry by storm.

The projection of this definitive hue is calculated months prior and as soon as the announcement is leaked storefront windows, magazine projections, and the blog-o-sphere quite literally erupt into a full on rally of inspiration images and must have items du jour. Unbeknownst to some, the Pantone color of the year virtually defines the fashion and design industry trends  for the sequential seasons and, consequently, stirs a sub culture frenzy of hue obsessed fashionistas and designers alike flocking  to rally around and parade this color craze.

As last year’s Honeysuckle gracefully bows out, this year’s Tangerine Tango takes a bold and daring punch to the grey, cold, and rainy January skies and promises even more strikingly optimistic color blocking, audacious color pairings, and, ultimately, a complete redefining of how the world views all things orange.

Introduce this vibrant and punchy color into your home, wardrobe, accessories, and cosmetics this year with confidence and ease. Much like a healthy dose of vitamin C this hue can be incorporated modestly as an accent belt, nail polish, lipstick shade, or earring with a neutral ensemble for something effortlessly timeless and unexpectedly chic. Likewise pair an accent pillow, throw, or rug in your neutral interior to juge up the decor seasonally. Tangerine can also be sported in a manner as bold and avant garde as the saturation of the hue itself with full on tonal and monochromatic color blocking. Either way you are sure to be confidently showcasing the cheery glow of this cheeky new color. So, here’s to 2012 and here’s to daring to tango with tangerine.

Here are some tantalizing tangerine tidbits to swoon over this season (links as follows):
