Looking for a fun and fashionable gathering of creative and stylish industry professionals? We’ve found just the event!
Haute Happy Hour is a monthly fashion-forward networking event created to bring the fashion forward people of the Queen City together. Charlotte STYLE asked the Creator of Haute Happy Hour, Amy Pickard, five question about the event.
What is Haute Happy Hour?
A fashion networking event for anybody that has a love for fashion.
Why did you start Haute Happy Hour [HHH]?
Haute Hour Hour was created after moving from Charleston SC to Charlotte. I wanted a more connected fashion community here after having that in Charleston. It is a no “hook” networking event for everybody that has a love of fashion to be involved in.
Who should attend the event?
Anybody is welcome to join the happy hour. There has been [attendees such as] hair stylist, store owners, bloggers, designers, stylist, models, make up artists, photographers and so on.
What takes place during the event?
It is just a time to talk fashion. There are usually drink specials and then everybody just mingles with each other about past projects or things coming up or what is going on with the fashion community. Many of the models have linked up with the magazine owners or photographers. [The event] really started to link people together on projects… THIS was the intent of the HHH.
How often does the event take place?
We typically do the HHH once a month but sometimes it is every other month.

A life-long fat girl, Sommer Johnson decided to strap on some fancy tennis shoes, wrestle into a sports bra that would likely be one size too small (they always are--that's what you get with big boobs), and go on a 38 week journey to run the Peachtree Road Race. In the midst of trying to find her healthier self, she found that her struggle was not all that rare. Between the full-figured audience of her online publication, Gemini Magazine, and friends who were rowing up the fat river with no paddle, Sommer decided to share her journey to help women like her get past their fears (and get moving--literally). A runner newbie, Insanity graduate, Turbofire enthusiast, and foodie experimenter, Sommer Johnson is a 32 year old mother of 2 and wife of 1 who lives in Atlanta, GA.
