Get a Style Lift with Stitch Fix
Ever wanted your own personal stylist? The bubble over your head just read, “Uhhh, what kind of stupidly obvious question is that?!” Girls, listen up. StitchFix is swooping in Superman style to save our stale wardrobes.
I caught wind of Stitch Fix on Twitter. After reading an exchange between two ladies discussing their latest “fixes,” I had to get to the bottom of this mysterious service. I immediately googled Stitch Fix and found their website. Their site is still in beta because they are that new to the scene.
Here’s how it works: you create a login, answer questions from a detailed survey covering everything from your typical price points to whether you prefer gold toned accessories over silver, pay a $20 fee that will be credited towards your first purchase should you decide to buy anything, and order your first “fix.” The next thing you know, after a matter of days, it’s Christmas all over again with a lovely Stitch Fix package sitting on your doorstep.
There were 5 fun pieces in my delivery. Not only is it crazy convenient, it’s also a huge plus to be able to try on clothes at home where you have your whole closet to put together entire outfits. How many times have you been in a dressing room thinking you have a perfect pair of flats at home for the dress you’re trying on, only to find out this isn’t the case when the shoes are too casual for your newly purchased frock? Ugh!
I could tell the Stitch Fix stylists took their time in selecting pieces for me. Every single item was dead-on in regards to style and, to my surprise, they all fit. Hands down, this was the best shopping experience I’ve ever had. My husband got a kick out of the fashion show I put on too.
The only thing left to do was determine what I wanted to keep, pay for those items by PayPal, and return the rest in the free provided USPS shipping bag. It was as easy as that. And don’t worry if you don’t want to keep anything in that particular shipment, you don’t have to. You can choose to have a “fix” delivered to your door as often as once a month. I’ve already ordered my second.
I would recommend my fellow Charlotte ladies to give this service a try. If for nothing else than to be able to say after someone compliments your outfit, “thanks, my stylist picked this out.”

A life-long fat girl, Sommer Johnson decided to strap on some fancy tennis shoes, wrestle into a sports bra that would likely be one size too small (they always are--that's what you get with big boobs), and go on a 38 week journey to run the Peachtree Road Race. In the midst of trying to find her healthier self, she found that her struggle was not all that rare. Between the full-figured audience of her online publication, Gemini Magazine, and friends who were rowing up the fat river with no paddle, Sommer decided to share her journey to help women like her get past their fears (and get moving--literally). A runner newbie, Insanity graduate, Turbofire enthusiast, and foodie experimenter, Sommer Johnson is a 32 year old mother of 2 and wife of 1 who lives in Atlanta, GA.
