More than 2,000 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Americans and their straight allies are expected to attend the public party to support equality and unity. The party will celebrate the indomitable spirit of the LGBT community across the country, as well as right here in the Carolinas.

The event, scheduled for 8 p.m. Sept. 2, 2012 at the NC Dance Theatre in uptown Charlotte, will be the defining LGBT event of the Democratic National Convention. The party is open to the public, and tickets start at $25.

The Unity party has a goal of  send a strong, positive message: Loving acceptance is the norm and there is no place for hate in our state.

Attendees are expected to include prominent members of the North Carolina LGBT community, LGBT delegates to the Democratic National Convention, business leaders, elected officials, celebrities, family, friends and supporters of LGBT citizens.

Unity Through Community entertainment and ticketing information will be released soon. To find out the latest, visit the website unitycharlotte2012.com, or follow on Twitter and like on Facebook.
