If ever there were a time when an editor feels like a princess during the cluster and chaos of fashion week, it would be at the swanky penthouse of the St. Regis hotel. Leave it to Dennis Basso to present his spring collection of hand-embroidered lace, icy pink lamé, fringed and fur couture confections fit for a royal in the place that epitomizes Old New York. Despite an overwhelming media gridlock that quickly ensued, the presentation was a lovely respite from navigating the tents of Lincoln Center. Dresses ran the gamut in length and silhouette, ranging from fully beaded sheathes to full skirt tulle cocktail. Fringed bottoms paired with crystal embellished tops gave it a definite 1920s feel. Just a few spotted sipping Perrier perusing the collection: Star Jones, Kelly Bensimon and Tommy Hilfiger.
